In December of 2009, Andrew Smith, an employee with Sente Mortgage, in Austin, TX contacted me about helping me reach $10,000 goal for Austin Marathon, 2010. He knew Ryan, from my older brother Case, whom he ran with in college. He asked the Sente Mortgage running team to join my effort, and below are a list of all the runners representing Sente Cares in the Austin Half or Full Marathon on 2-14-10. Along with Brian Hurd, another team leader, this company has shown what it takes to be compassionate and give back to all the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve. I am forever thankful.

We all know that the past year has been difficult for many Americans. This reality compelled Sente Mortgage to contemplate actions we could take to improve our community and the lives of our fellow Americans. As a result, we have created a philanthropic endeavor called Sente Cares. The vision of Sente Cares is to utilize our resources and abilities to affect positive change.
I’m pleased to share that our inaugural cause is the Wounded Warrior Project. The WWP honors and empowers our wounded heroes by providing unique programs and services to meet the needs of severely injured service members. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for this worthy cause. And the vehicle for this fundraiser is the 2010 Austin Marathon.
Sente Cares has teamed up with Running for Ryan to pool our efforts for this cause. Running for Ryan is raising funds for WWP to honor the memory of Ryan Shay. Ryan was the younger brother of a college teammate of mine, and he passed away while running the Men's Marathon Olympic Trials in Central Park on November 3, 2007. On that day the U.S. lost one of its most promising young distance runners and we all lost a great person.
